...and He's OFF!

David left for Europe on Sunday.
He flew to Berlin via Amsterdam, from whence the group's opening tour will embark. They will visit the Czech Republic and Austria, after Germany. After the opening tour, the group will settle into the Gonzaga University campus in Florence.

We are thrilled for David; we've always hoped that he would study abroad. We thought he might choose Paris, since he is rather proficient in French, but he selected the GIF program, which has been in existence since the 1960s, and is well-established and respected. In fact, Gregg visited friends on that program back in the late 1970s!

David is going to learn to speak Italian, which may confuse his French a bit, but no worries - both are romance languages. It will be fun to hear him speak Italian.

I spent a quarter in England when I was a college student, and loved it. It was a life-changing, enriching blessing. I pray that this will be the case for David!

So hard to say goodbye, but such an enriching opportunity for your boy. And Florence! Such a beautiful, artsy, historic, charming city. He's going to be very cool and worldy-wise when he gets back...and never want to drink American coffee again (or at least for a while!) Ciao, David! The world awaits...

An amazing opportunity. My niece did a quarter in Italy with BYU studying art history and now she is doing missionary work in Milan for 18 months. Once Land was in Australia I didn't worry about him. (I think I should have) but he will always be grateful for the experience.

i've always hoped for the same for Mandi, but she has chosen not to pursue it at this time. I hope David has a wonderful and safe trip.
