Tour de France Replay

I've written before that I am a Tour de France fan, as is David. Gregg enjoys watching, but not like David and I do.

For 23 days in July, we wake up in the morning and turn on the TV to see the live coverage; we tune in again at dinner time to watch the race replay, with full commentary. It's bad manners, but David and I even watch it while we eat dinner, sitting on the couch.

Today is a rest day for the riders, so they are replaying past broadcasts. In the spirit of replays, here are some photos of the 2009 Tour de France that we took last summer, when we were vacationing in the south of France. I hope you enjoy them.
David and me, with baguettes (and wine), waiting for the peloton to arrive.
JOY.
Excitement.
The real thing - Contador (closest to the camera) and Armstrong (in black socks and black & yellow helmet), with David and me on the far right side of the picture. You can see how close we were to the action!
They will finish in the City of Light.

I love those photos...the joy on David's face is priceless!!!
I laughed that you thought it was bad manners to watch tv while eating dinner...I think that MOST Americans do this...I tried for a long time to only have on music during dinner. Sometimes I win. Sometimes I lose. What can you do??
hugs to you...enjoy your T D F!

These are fantastic!! I love the Tour too, and I can feel David's excitement through the photo. How great that you all got to see Lance live and in-person. What a wonderful memory for everyone. Thanks for sharing.

It looks like you 3 were the only spectators there! What beautiful pics. We are watching the Tour now. Lance looks like he's in some pain.

Yay! I remember how much you love the Tour! And remember my good friend, the commentator Paul Sherwen?

Suz, thank you for making me feel better about the "TV dinners." =)

Tracey, it was thrilling. We've been watching for years now, and David was DETERMINED to see a stage. If you read the posting last year, you may have seen just how determined.

Cassandra, I hope you are enjoying this tour, in spite of Lance's difficulties. I like him, but I think it's time for him to be a domestique for someone else now.

Laura, isn't it gorgeous to watch, with the SUN and the scenery? It's like a virtual trip to France - much more fun than the Golf Channel! Lance did have an awful day yesterday. I hope he has recovered from those crashes - they looked really painful.

Elizabeth, I had forgotten that you knew him! I LOVE Paul Sherwen and Phil Liggett (& am quite fond of Bobke)! If you have a chance, please send him big kisses from me. He and Phil are the only two sports broadcasters who I really respect and LOVE to listen to. REALLY. I will break my own rules and watch TV during dinner, for them. xoxoxoxo =)

So nice...funny, I was thinking of David & your love of the Tour de France. Steve and I went for a bike hike, and that made me think of that....not quite the same, but non-the-less...fun on a bike! I have also been thinking about you and your family as you are also in your "season" of the year. Those days are up and down, but in the end...good! Just wanted to say Hi, and of course if I am thinking about you...I am PRAYING for you!
