Happy Birthday, My Sweet

 Today is Katie's 20th birthday.
Her light and her love first came into our lives
on this day in 1995
and for that,
we are grateful beyond words.

I can imagine her at the age of 20.

She has been showing signs of her ongoing presence
in tender ways this week,
for which I'm thankful.

She taught us important lessons in her own unique style,
and her precious life continues to teach us.
We love you, Sweetheart! Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to your sweet Katie. Many hugs and love to you Karen. Your positive attitude and joyful spirit serve as hope that the journey without our child's physical presence is survivable. I'm sure that this day hurts, but despite the hurt - you will also find the joy. It's what you do! xo

She is such a radiant beauty. I know you think of her every single day in some way or another. And I know these special days are the hardest.

I look at late teen boys and they may as well be aliens. I cannot relate. I look at 4 year old boys and my eyes well up with tears sometimes. I understand not being able to grasp her at 20.

Hugs and love, my friend!

Thank you, dear friends. It was a happy day - one of the first of her birthdays since her passing which we could say we enjoyed. We hiked on the beach and in the park, ate a delicious late brunch and drank a toast to her, and went to a funny move and ate popcorn for dinner. It was a very "Katie" kind of day, and I could feel her joie de vivre intersecting with ours.
