Bellingham Weekend

Gregg and I went up to Bellingham this weekend to see Mike & Andrea. It was such a treat to spend quiet time with them in their wonderful town. Bellingham has SO MUCH going on, all the time: it's a college town, a port, has incredible views over the water to the west (and the San Juan Islands), has a thriving outdoor athletic community, beautiful lakes nearby, fun shops and restaurants, breweries and lovely craftsman-style and Victorian architecture. We did a lot of walking, enjoyed their dogs and cuddled their cats (two of each), laughed and talked and caught up. Thank you for your hospitality, Andrea & Mike!

On the way up, we stopped in the town of La Connor, to see what everyone always talks about as an art destination. It was raining, gray and - sadly - a bit on the depressed side, economically (many empty storefronts), but we had a good lunch at a little waterfront pub and an excellent cup of coffee from a local roaster. I hope things will pick up for La Connor during the tulip season, for which the Skagit Valley is famous.

On our way home, we took the scenic route along Chuckanut Drive. We stopped to take a few photos, and to enjoy the view.

You're such a good-looking couple, Karen. And I love that jacket that you're wearing!

Karen, whenever you post photos of places you travel in that lovely state of Washington, it makes me want to hop a plane and enjoy the Real Deal myself. Maybe some day... Actually, perhaps I should before the big blizzard they're predicting hits us!

Beautiful views...so glad you got to enjoy some time away. I don't know about you...but whenever we "get away" or not....God shows me in just the right way that he see's me...he knows my heart. I hope you see those little "kisses" from him during your days.

Dawn.

It was such a beautiful day, after lots of gray weather - we were thrilled to see blue sky, so we did a lot of walking! (Glad you like the top - it's a microfleece half-zip from Land's End, several years old.)
Yes, everyone should visit WA some day, preferably in summer (unless you LOVE rain).

OMG! Karen dear I just gave that same jacket to Mary because I never got to wear it! You, my dear, have impeccable taste! Isn't it the warmest thing ever, and so light...sigh. But as you know cold and I are not getting along lately and she goes everywhere so it made sense to get rid of it and several other things that languished inside the winter closet.

We are looking forward to seeing you hopefully in a couple of weeks. The new surgeon's nurse called this morning and hopefully everything can be done before the 11th. I will let you know. You two look gorgeous in those photos, but then again, you two are gorgeous!

PS: when did you mail your package?
