Ode to Spring

Ode to Spring

It's spring
It's raining/hailing/sunny/warm/cold
All in one day
It's spring
It's budding/pollen/blossoming
Spring sunshine flows through our windows
Windows that are covered with winter-spring dirt
Cats are shedding/roughhousing
Leaving clumps of fur, like chemo-fallout
All over the house
Windows need cleaning
House needs vacuuming.

Ah! My love has emptied the vacuum canister
Vacuum pulls with renewed vigor and
Energy of spring cleaning.
Clumps of cat fur disappear.
Now, about those windows...
Spring, you bring endless chores with you
But I love you anyway.

It's my very favorite time of year, even though it makes me sneeze, cough, have itchy eyes and feel like I have a low-grade cold the whole month of April.

I love the new life I see EVERYWHERE! I love the COLORS and the warm breezes! I love the smell of fresh earth and baby leaves pushing forth into the sun... I love all of it!

Happy Spring to you, Karen!

Here, here to all the wild weather we too are having! Though I do so want just a nice sunbath. Kitty fur I don't have a problem with only poochies....

I'm so happy for spring, especially considering those friends of mine who live in cold climates. Is that your house? Surrounded by all that amazing greenery? Gorgeous.

This is so true and so great!!!!
My seasons kind of run together...but I do love the idea of spring cleaning. Why can't we hire an assistant a few times a year though?

Oh, my goodness, is that your beautiful house? And send your love over this way to clean out my vacuum cleaner, please.

The cool thing about Spring in Maui: no pollen! Virginia is blanketed in the stuff, like a layer of yellow snow. But not Maui. Clean fresh air there. Too bad we left today...

Ah my favorite season, pollen and all. Every day going around the garden discovering newborns, some I have forgotten I planted because they have taken their sweet time to come to bloom.

I love to have a house up in a hill again. I remember scratching my head when we sold the old house and the real estate description said "proprietary view". I never thought of it that way for the twenty years I lived there. A friend used to call it "Brigadoon" because when the fog lifted you could see the whole of Portland and the lights at night were magical. What wasn't so magical was trying to deal with the driveway after an ice storm. And bless our dear husbands for taking care of the Dysons!

Sweet friends, it is our house. Dirty windows and all!

Or, leave the chores for another day,
and go outside and plant away!

Happy, Happy Spring!
