Liger

I talk more about Latte than Liger, because Latte is more sociable and dog-like. Latte comes and sits next to us, practically every night, on the couch. He will walk across our laps, swat us in the face with his enormous tail, and then plop down next to us, half on our lap, and half off of it. He demands to be petted. He follows us around like a dog, too.

Liger is a very docile, gentle and somewhat shy creature. He tends to stay out of the action, preferring to nap in quiet places, especially in Katie's room. He also has a deep connection to David, and often seeks him out in the loft (a room at the very top of our house that I call the "teen hangout," to David's great chagrin. He probably thinks of it as a "man cave.") David likes to do his homework up there, and play video games, too. Liger can often be found with David.
Lately, however, Liger has been hanging out more with me, which makes me happier than I can put into words. His fur is as soft as satin, and he is like a little boneless chicken, he's so flexible. He will lie down on my tummy, stretch out and purr until he (or I) falls asleep. Last night, both of us fell asleep.

Gregg and I went to Costco, and then out for a beer and dinner at my favorite pub, Silver City Brew Pub. It was the first time I had felt well enough to enjoy going out in two weeks. I had the only beer I really like, which is called Fat Scotch Ale (formerly known as "Fat Bastard," but they had to change the name due to some copyright issue). It has a little over 9% alcohol, and a pint really gives me a bit of a buzz. I NEVER drive after drinking one of these. I could hardly help put the groceries away, but I did, and then sat back on the couch. Liger came and sat on my lap, and we both took a nap.
Cat naps are like heaven on earth, especially with a little guy like Liger purring on your chest.

My dad just sent me two photos from the day we adopted the cats. Here is Latte on his first day at our house:
and here is Liger on the same day, in Katie's arms:

Kaaaaaren!!! THANK YOU for this post! I love your cats and I loved learning more about them. I didn't know you'd adopted them. That's wonderful. Liger has gorgeous eyes, and I laughed at your descpription, "...he's like boneless chicken..."...perfect!
I want to nibble your baby cats, they are so precious!

I'm so glad you're feeling a little better. I've been dealing with a lingering cough since Thanksgiving, no joke. It sucks. Continue on...

I wish David could check out Ed's man cave. They'd never come out of there!

Beautiful photos of you on the couch with the cats. And the ones of them as babies are so precious, too.

How sweet is Liger? I love that they all have different personalities and apparently Liger is changing his a bit.
Those kitten pictures are so sweet. And the fact that your Dad has them on his phone AND can send them to you?????
How old are they now?
Our 3 cats are not really sweet, but I have noticed that the youngest one, Krispy has been loving on me the last few nights. She lays all over my chest and sleeps. (curled up under my boob!) Maybe she is just cold???

Sweet photos Karen.

A boneless chicken.. now that is a way to describe a cat! LOL Your fur babies are so cute and sweet. I so wish our cat were more sociable and cuddly with our girl. She was supposed to belong to her but instead has imprinted herself onto the hubs. Love the 'baby pics' too.. and seeing just a little more of Katie too. : )

The cats were adopted from the Humane Society, through a pet store. They were already neutered and had shots. A good way to get cats! They are are nearly 4 years old; we got them in June, 2006.
Or were you asking how old my parents are? =)
