Elton John and Billy Joel

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of being invited to attend the Elton John-Billy Joel concert in Seattle. It was a surprise, and it came at exactly the right time - I was having a terrible week, and the opportunity to dress up and go out was just the right thing.

I wore this top:
which my friend, Linda, talked me into buying two years ago.
Note: It's not Gregg's favorite, but Gregg wasn't going with me. It's not a color nor a style which I would normally wear, but Linda was insistent, and she was right. (She also talked me into buying a gorgeous Asian jacket on another visit, but I don't have a photo of that one.) Suffice it to say, Linda knows her wardrobe; she is a professional singer, who travels all over the world, performing with (and as one of) "the best."
I also wore some great jeans and very high-heeled boots; I felt like a million bucks.
And Sir Elton? He sounded like a million bucks. I had heard him in concert two or three times during his "Captain Fantastic" phase, and he gave just as good a performance 30+ years later! He is a true professional.

Billy Joel was good, though his music and his demeanor are not my favorite. He is a talented keyboardist, and his band is awesome.
The combination of the two great pianists, with concert grand pianos facing one another on the stage, was almost overwhelming in positive energy. You could feel the bass pounding in your chest. The lights and projected images enhanced the experience.

It gave me a great lift, and reminded me how much I enjoy many different kinds of music. I'm so thankful I got to experience this concert.
Thanks again, Laura, Tom and Rich!

Karen, YOU are a KNOCKOUT! I'm a bit jealous and NOT because you saw Elton John (although I'd love to!). I'm so happy that you got a rocking night out. And why, ahem, does Greg not like the blouse?

Elizabeth, you are so sweet - thank you. Gregg doesn't like the color or the style - he prefers a more "tailored" look. Good thing we have girlfriends to counterbalance all of that male "logic," isn't it? =)

Karen; You DO look like a million bucks in that picture. So nice to hear that music lifted your spirits too.

I LOVE that top Karen. It is not something I would be drawn too, but it looks so great on you. Can I borrow?
I love Elton John. We saw him about 5 years ago...such a wonderful show he put on, LOVED it!

you are so gorgeous--and I'm so glad you got the lift--right at the right time. Tender mercies. I can "hear" it in your writing.

Elton and Billy! I dated a young man in college who went to "Brenda and Eddie's" high school. We hung out at the village green when I went to visit. And Sir Elton... I just can't add anything. I love the blouse... so glad that you felt like a million bucks. It helps.

And you were such a good sport to wander around in the rain block after block while Tom tried to find that restaurant. Great start to the night!! More fun times to come...

I agree with you about music.... especially good LIVE music... it stirs something within, doesn't it?
