"Sky Blue & Black" (Jackson Browne)

Though this song is about a breakup, it says (particularly the last verse) so much of how I feel about Katie's death. I have played - and sung along with - this song hundreds of times since she passed.

The above video contains a clip of Browne, explaining what the song means to him. If you like it, here is another version of it:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHoWsrECE6w

There is so much inside each note, as I am sure you know. But what has always impressed me about this particular song are the hidden strands of hope, weaving between the pain and loss. I hope it means the same to you. It must.

It is comforting to know that absences caused by death are temporary and that someday, somehow, a door will open and we will walk into a place were all what we once loved will be there again, and the world will be right and there will be no more skies blue and black for any of us.
I wish that for you, and for me as well.

I am ashamed to say, I don't know this song. I love Jackson Browne, but don't recall hearing this. I love it...the words are so beautiful. I love that it has different meanings to different people...we can interpret our own meanings.
Hugs to you,
Suz

Listening to the song just now was the perfect thing for me to do. Thanks for passing it on to me.
I, too, was not familiar with it, primarily because it was the Pretender album that I played over and over and over. I need to get it out now and play linda paloma : ) It's great to let us know you in this way as the song is incredibly deep, true and stirring. I am there with you, girlfriend. Smooch.
