"Being Built Together"

Eph 2:19-22:  "Brothers and sisters:
You are no longer strangers and sojourners,
but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones
and members of the household of God,
built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.
Through him the whole structure is held together
and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord;
in him you also are being built together
into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit."

It struck me, as I read this, how much I love being a homemaker, and being in our home - and that I am (and you - and everyone - are welcome to be) "members of the household of God." How intimate, how inviting, how cozy and comforting that sounds!
When everything feels as if it's falling apart, yes, it feels terrible, but apparently, underneath all of this chaos, "through Him the whole structure is held together." In the midst of chaos, of breaking down, of falling apart, of disintegration, of pain, of loss, of uncertainty, "the whole structure is held together and grows into a temple," and not just any temple, such as one made to a small god, but one that is "sacred in the Lord."
"In Him, I am [we are] being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit." Being built into, part of, a building block in, a brick in mortar in the wall of a temple, sacred in the Lord. Under construction, an active, evolving, integral part of a dwelling place for God
in God I am being built, and God dwells in me.
What a powerful thought! I don't control this; it's being done to me and in me...and it seems to include Katie. It says that this is happening in the Spirit, so it can include those who are here, and those who have passed beyond our sight into other dimensions. The Spirit is not constrained by time or space.
I love to think that I am being built into a temple of which Katie is also an integral part.

Very nicely put Karen. I am sure that all our loved ones here and those who have passed on are very much included in our spiritual quests.
