Award Season

No, not the TV kind of award; Blog awards!

My dear friend Diane Walker of Contemplative Photography (and many other creative endeavors) gave me two lovely blogging awards the other day. She wrote:

The intent in passing on these acknowledgments is simple: to express my admiration and appreciation for your fine and always interesting writing, the time you take to acknowledge and respond to followers' comments, and the community you help create, encourage, and nurture all over the Web.
The "rules", such as they are, follow, as well as images of the badges, which you can "grab" and upload to your own pages, if you like. You may award both accolades to the same group of people or one to one group and the other to a different group, or mix them up; the choice is yours.
The Versatile Blogger Award
► Acknowledge the award and thank and link back to the person bestowing it. A good way to do this is through a post such as this.

Thank you, Diane!

► Pass on the award to 15 other bloggers:
Mary P.
Renee (posthumous)
► Let the new recipients know you've selected them. Optional:
► Share seven things about yourself that your readers or followers might not know. (See "Seven Bits," below.)
► Post the badge to your blog.
Seven Bits:
1. I collect Native American glass beads, found on beaches near my home. I've been collecting them since I was a little girl.
2. I was once so fluent in the French language that I began to dream in it.
3. My French is very rusty now, but I would like to become fluent again, and learn to speak Italian.
4. I would like to live in Europe or England some day - not forever, but for a while.
5. I would like to live on Vancouver Island some day - not forever, but for a while.
6. I would like to write for a living (keep writing, and get paid for it).
7. I have a degree in Fine Art (watercolor painting, to be exact), cum laude, but I'm not a good painter, and wish I had double-majored in interior design and English. (I don't spend a lot of time regretting this, however, and am thankful beyond words for my education!)

One Lovely Blog Award: I received this one from another blogger, some time ago (see the sidebar), so I will not re-post it, but I send thanks to Diane for her kindness.

Congratulations to the new recipients! If you aren't a regular reader of their blogs, please go and  visit!

You are so sweet Karen!

I love your bits. I knew you had a degree in art, but did not know it was in watercolor. SO cool.
Dream in french? Amazing.

I also dream of living other places, but not forever. I wish we could move yearly...but of course bring those who we love with us!

Aww, so sweet! I would love to live other places, but every time I travel, I can't wait to get back home. I know I dream in color, but I certainly don't dream in other languages. : )

Thanks again, friend! : )

Thank you Karen -- I am touched. And I loved reading your 7 bits! We share a passion for languages (French was my college major and I lived there twice as an exchange student. Then, later, we lived in Italy for a short while and I immersed myself in that beautiful language.). And, I am so intrigued by your Native American glass bead collection - have you ever posted a picture of any of the beads? Would love to see them. xo

Caron, if I don't see you, have a wonderful visit (& even if I DO see you)! =)

Aw, thanks my Bloggy Buddy! You're too kind!

Loved your list. Even though I've wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old (literally!) there was a time, starting when I was in jr. high, that I also wanted to be an interpreter and work at the UN. Yes, really. (Crud! I should have saved this for MY list of 7 things...) I started taking French in jr. high, then took it in high school, as well. I also took 3 yrs. of Spanish in high school, then 2 more in college. I've been immersed in Italian my entire life. You'd think I could speak even ONE of these languages fluently, wouldn't you? Nope, not a one!! Heck, I can barely do English sometimes. :P

Thank you Karen. This is so sweet. You continue to be so kind and encouraging about my blogging efforts, and I'm very grateful. I've found it to be helpful in many ways.

I learned some very interesting things about you too - the best is dreaming in French. WOW!

Hugs back to you,
Mary

Thank you, Karen! I, too, loved your Seven Bits. I hope that you get many more visits to your beloved France -- and speak as fluently as you dream of --

Thank you Karen! Coming from you this means a lot.
Thank you.

and I love learning more about my fav blog loves.
I think you should do some sort of art pilgrimage that involves an extended trip to France :) You could blog about it and sell watercolour paintings of what you capture and that would finance your trip :)

I moved a lot as a child, and am passionate about giving my kids "roots" and a forever house and all that. My husband sort of had that . Yet I think I have a bit of a transient heart. I really don't get attached to things and would have no problem moving elsewhere. But would not get agreement from the kids or hubby on this I don't think. Someday.

Jason, as himself said...

Thank you! I am flattered!

I didn't know any of these little tidbits about you. Now I like you even more.
