Doppler Shares His Story - via Paul Dudley

I introduced you to Doppler in the last post, but I haven't told you very much about him, and what a fantastic young man he is. Doppler is a two-time cancer survivor who was a Camp Goodtimes camper as a child, and now is a staffer - giving back to others what was given to him when he was a young boy.

We met Doppler last year at Codi's Luau. He and Figaro (another Camp Goodtimes alum), were masterminding the catering, and they did a wonderful job.

This is a video, starring Doppler (made by Paul "Mooselips" Dudley). In the video, Doppler briefly tells - in his own, eloquent way - what the cancer journey was like for him, and the postive effect that Camp Goodtimes has had, and still has, in his life. Please listen (and pass the tissues).

Well...I probably shouldn't have watched this because I have a terrible cold and I am all out of tissue and am on to paper towels...ouch. (I look like Rudolph.) But, I did watch, and I'm glad. Doppler reminds me a lot of Daniel. He's right - as parents we'd give anything not to have our kids endure even one day of treatment and pain. And, it's so NOT FAIR they have to go through this. A cure has to be found! Thanks for sharing Karen! (*sniff* ouch *sniff*) L =] xo

Oh thank goodness Keenan was close by.

Only those who have truly walked in cancer's shoes can speak with the eloquence that Doppler does. He is a brave young man to have faced into the foe twice, and to have come out the other side - not angry, but wanting to smooth the path for others that follow him.

Thank God for young souls like him in this world who choose to pay it forward.
Thank you for sharing this video Karen. It is very important.

Doppler's video is moving and informative. It's hard to imagine how "set apart" children afflicted by cancer feel due to all the changes in appearance, ability etc. that their treatment and the disease itself impose upon them. I was especially inspired by Doppler's statement that the prospect of returning to Camp Goodtimes as staff gave him reason and determination to fight. What a beautiful man. Thank you for sharing.
