Congratulations, PJB 3!

I am going to toot our nephew's horn here.

Last night, we went to dinner with my parents, my brother and sister-in-law and our nephew, Phil. Phil (his name is actually Philip James Boren III) just turned 21, and graduated from UCSB (in three years). He has worked hard in college, and was offered 4 jobs before he graduated! He will be moving to the Bay area to begin working, after a summer of travel and relaxation. Well done, Phil! We are so proud of you.

Here is one of my favorite photos of Phil and Katie, from Father's Day 2007 (she loved this photo, too):
This was one of those photos about which I said to her, "You have got some pretty cute guy-cousins," to which she replied, "I know, that's the problem: they're my COUSINS!"
...and here are a few photos from dinner last night. It was a lovely dinner, with lots of laughs.
Phil, Jim and Caroline are heading to China for a family vacation/graduation gift. Bon Voyage and traveling mercies to them!
P.S. to smileygirl: See the sun shining in blue the evening sky? If you zoom in, you might see Mt. Rainier in the distance, over my dad's shoulder. (This place is on the shores of Lake Washington.) There is hope!

You are very sweet to say this, and pretty cute yourself!

maybe this is a stupid question, but are you and your sister twins? and, yes Katie, you have some mighty hot guy cousins!

No, that's my beautiful sister-in-law (she's married to my brother). I'm the salt-and-pepper-haired one, & my mom has white hair (my sister & brother-in-law weren't with us). Hope this doesn't confuse you more...

Happy Birthday, Sweet Karen!!! Today is also my grandpa's birthday, God rest his soul. Today is very special to me, so I was delighted to read that it was also your bday. I can't tell you how happy I am that my dear, sweet Laura is going to have you once she gets out there to Seattle. I'm a very firm believer that EVERYTHING happens for a reason, so it was no accident that Laura came across your blog and Katie's story, etc. The Lord works in mysterious ways.... Hope you and your boys have a great celebration tonight!

Happy Birthday Karen.
I too have read your story and I have lurked at your blog on occasion. You seem like such a great person, and have been through so much. Such great wisdom and insight in all the things I have read so far.
I hope you have a joyous day!
