Thanksgiving, etc.

There is news over at Katie's Comforters Guild's blogspot.

We are having Gregg's parents over for a "Thanksgiving" dinner tonight. Since we spent Thanksgiving in Palm Desert, we left the leftovers with my parents. They shared as much as possible with us before we came home, but I still felt a hankering for more, so we bought a turkey and the trimmings, and I'm making "Thanksgiving II" tonight.

We flew out of Seattle on David's 17th birthday; I had the flight attendant announce it on the plane. Aren't I a nice mom? David was thrilled, I'm sure of it (or maybe not so much) - anyway, he took it with good grace. We went to the restaurant of his choice for his birthday dinner. My mom's birthday was the following day, so we went to a spa that day, and in the evening, there was more celebrating, gifts opened, dinner at the restaurant of her choice, and happiness all around.

We visited a college that David wanted to see.

The men golfed and played tennis.

We went shopping. Gregg and I walked daily. We ate in good restaurants.

And on Thanksgiving day, Gregg and I cooked a meal that was (if I do say so) delicious. Mom made her green bean casserole, and Dad made the gravy. I still can't make gravy that tastes as good as his; maybe, someday, I'll learn.

Oh, look:  Gregg spilled on his shirt!

Here is the aftermath of Thanksgiving dinner. FYI, Gregg did not want me to take that photo.

David played cards with Grandma and Kappa. He is quite good at both Gin Rummy and Cribbage.

I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving with those you love.

The photo of Gregg with his spill and him napping on the floor are very familiar sights. I see them all the time. :)

  4. I love a family photo journey like that, so I can live vicariously! It almost feels like I was there! Your happy faces say it all, and I'm so glad you had such a special time together. Your family is very special and despite missing Katie so very much, you do have so much for which to be thankful.

  5. You really are such a beautiful family. And I love the photo of Gregg lying face-down on the carpet. Although you should tell him that his legs look like a boys' so that's good! Thanks for sharing your wonderful Thanksgiving with us.
