| Dinner & dessert at Burrata Bistro |
One of the gifts of blogging is becoming acquainted with people you would never have met otherwise. Sometimes, those blog-friendships translate into "real life." Allegra & Barry are two of those friends; they spent the weekend in our area. Last year, Gregg and I visited them in their hometown. This year, they were able to make a trip to see us (and other friends of theirs).

We spent hours cozily at home, chatting, nibbling, enjoying the view and company.

| Barry & David, getting acquainted |
David had heard us speak of our friends, who we met through blogging, but he had never met them himself. This visit coincided with his Christmas vacation, so it was a pleasure to introduce them.

It was great fun to show them around our little town. We visited many of the boutiques, our local Norwegian bakery, Katie's bench (at Allegra's request), our wonderful "destination" grocery store, and of course, Burrata Bistro for dinner. See a trend? Allegra & Barry are true "foodies," and we share a deep enjoyment of the topic and its application in real life.
We hosted them for brunch and dinner in our home. I was a little bit intimidated to cook for Allegra, who has been trained at Cordon Bleu, but she did her best to put me at ease, even taking over an area of the kitchen to prepare oysters in a delicate sauce for an appetizer, as I prepared our dinner. If you had ever told me that I would be sharing a kitchen with a Cordon Bleu-trained chef and restauranteur, I would have doubted you. But it worked, and no egregious failures ensued on my part (at least, none that I could perceive)!
Allegra and Barry are both talented raconteurs. We talked and talked until we could scarcely keep our eyes open; I got to bed at 3:00 this morning, shortly before Gregg arose at 4:00 to go to work. I am a little bit punchy today, but it was well worth it.
Bon voyage and traveling mercies, with love, to our friends.
